Note Agate is a form of chalcedony and is part of quartz family. It is known for color bands ,often concentric, due to the way it forms within the cavity of the volcanic rocks that sometimes completely fills. On the outside it seems a common stone but it is a Geode: a hollow stone that has small crystals in the center when it is cut off. Large multicolored agates that are cut off in half to highlight the internal cavity, are the most striking and powerful, but even the small ones have remarkable qualities. Since ancient times it has been considered a sacred stone and is used as an amulet, able to guarantee protection, success and health.
